Schools and hospitals in North America are taking proactive steps to help fight diseases like diabetes and obesity by installing “healthy vending machines” that only dispense healthy foods and drinks.

Healthy vending machine news reportIn Tennessee, healthy vending was implemented at the Vanderbilt Medical Center. Nearby, MLK High School also joined the healthy vending movement.

In schools, good nutrition and health is taught in health class so when class is over, to actually “practice what you preach” by having healthy snacks available for growing kids seems more and more like the right thing to do and schools are getting on board.

Martin Luthar King High School removed all of the unhealthy food and replaced the machines with only healthy options. Now 100% of food and drink available through vending machines at MLK is a healthy option!
